Evans Pitches One-hitter as Bulls Take One of Three.

The UB softball team came back after their last unpromising series with strong play over the weekend, taking one out of three games against the Kent State Golden Flashes.Where before the pitching had been shaky, this weekend UB pitchers gave up only a combined four earned runs in three games, including a one-hitter pitched by freshman Stacey Evans.The Bulls won the first game of Saturday's doubleheader 5-0, before dropping the evening game by a slim 1-0 margin.

Guaranteed continuing appointment by the SUNY system, or tenure, can create a moment of panic or a sense of relief for professors, depending on which side of the process they are on."Obtaining tenure is one of the most nerve-racking processes that a teacher will go through during their career," said Senior Vice Provost Kenneth Levy, who has been through each step of the tenure process from when he started out as an assistant professor to sitting on the review board.The process of becoming tenured while working as an assistant professor is very in-depth and rigid, requiring hours of work and review, said Levy.

A great number of clubs at UB give students the opportunity to gain a better sense of self and well-being by taking matters into their own hands, or sometimes throwing another student with them.With the introduction of Tae Kwan Do as a medal event in the 2000 Olympic games in Sydney and a burgeoning interest nationwide in the martial arts, UB's club offerings have grown to encompass a wide number of self-defense's various styles and forms.Tae Kwon Do, or "the way of foot and fist," is the single largest martial arts entity on campus.

Controversy over the April 11 University Council elections was resolved Thursday night, when the UC Elections Committee ruled against former candidate Brendan Keane's request for a re-election.Keane contested the results of the election on the grounds that the election had been inadequately publicized and that the online voting polls were not adequately reliable.

Saving Lives Through Blood Donations

For every pint of blood donated, three lives are potentially saved. To help meet its constant need for the renewable live-saver, the Red Cross Blood Mobile was stationed in Hadley Village Wednesday to collect blood from the student turnout.
