Rashid, who is now running for a seat in the Virginia Senate for the 28th district, sat down for a Q&A with The Spectrum on Wednesday night to discuss current U.S. politics, becoming a lawyer, and his motivation for running for office.

Campus High honors to be awarded at UB commencement UB will award L. Nelson Hopkins, State University of New York Distinguished Professor of Neurosurgery, with the Chancellor Charles P. Norton Medal, during the 2019 commencement ceremonies, according to UBNow.

UB Sustainability organized a clean-up of Bizer Creek on Thursday, where volunteers cleaned roughly 500 pounds of garbage from the creek.

Roughly 20 student volunteers braved uneven terrain and cold temperatures to collect an estimated 500 pounds of garbage from Bizer Creek on Thursday.

Yousouf Amolegbe put his hand to his face and covered the tears in his eyes on Thursday afternoon. He he had just become the Student Association’s fifth black president ever. Amolegbe, Georgia Hulbert and Kendra Harris –– the P.R.I.D.E. Party –– won the executive board election after a campaign based on “progressive, reform, integrity, diversity and empowerment” initiatives.

Dr. France Córdova is the 14th director of the National Science Foundation. She was the youngest person and the first woman who was chief scientist for NASA and has had an illustrious career in academia, including being chancellor emeritus of University of California, Riverside, and president emeritus of Purdue University.

3/25 4:43 p.m. Patrol reported someone slipped and fell outside of Harriman Hall. UPD requested an ambulance which transported the person to the Erie County Medical Center. 11:33 p.m. UPD requested an ambulance for a person with a leg injury at the UB Stadium. The person was conscious, but unable to move their leg. An ambulance transported them to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.

The Spectrum’s exit poll results indicate the P.R.I.D.E. Party earned 50% of the Student Association executive board elections votes for president, vice president and treasurer.

France Córdova, current chief of the National Science Foundation and former chief scientist of NASA, spoke at UB Wednesday. She discussed current innovations within NSF, the importance of reskilling and upskilling and barriers to women in science-related fields.
