Iowa 29, Miami(OH) 24Miami (OH) quarterback Ben Roethlisberger went 33 of 51 for 343 yards and two touchdowns, but it wasn't enough as the Iowa Hawkeyes (2-0) defeated the Redhawks Saturday at Yager Stadium in Ohio.Iowa quarterback Brad Banks went 18 of 27 for 256 yards and threw two touchdowns in the second half to wipe out a 17-16 Redhawk lead late in the third quarter.

SA Adds New Clubs to Its Roster

UB's Student Association has welcomed several new clubs to its roster this semester, with interests ranging from sports to politics.New clubs include the College Republicans, the College Democrats, Baha'i Club, Roller Hockey Club, Go Girls Soccer Club, Old School Games Club, Men's Soccer, and Dart Team.Michael Dobies, president of the College Republicans, said the club already has over 100 new members, obtained while it still had temporary club status and "is gaining new members every day."SA has acknowledged the club to be one of the most active new clubs at UB, and already has several events planned for the year.

UB Creates Virtual Anatomy for Student Study

Through a collaboration with five of UB's schools and departments, David Fineberg, clinical assistant professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery, has created a model of the human body that feels and responds like a live human.According to Fineberg, the "Living Anatomy" model is a "physical virtual interactive tool for medical, dental, physical therapy, physicians assistants, chiropractic, and nursing (students)." Fineberg described the model as a flight simulator of human anatomy."If you're going to simulate flight, you have to build a cockpit," Fineberg said.

In the Wednesday, Sept. 4, issue of The Spectrum, an article incorrectly stated that the upcoming Fall Fest "will mark the first time since the Sugar Ray/Orgy concert in 1999 that a Fest has been performed outdoors." The last outdoor Fest actually occurred in fall 2000, headlined by The Roots.

Changes to SAT on the Horizon

After March 2005, prospective college students will have something else added to their plate of application worries - a revamping of the Standard Assessment Test, more familiarly known as the SAT.Regina Toomey, associate vice provost for new student recruitment programs, made a brief presentation to the Faculty Senate Executive Committee last Tuesday outlining the SAT changes that will be implemented by the College Board, the implications for students, the impact the changes may have and what UB should do to prepare for the changes."I don't think there's any great mystery in this, I think we need to let the process work.

I have a lot of pride in UB athletics, and Buffalo Bulls football is certainly no exception. When I am covering news that pertains to the school, however, I cannot be biased towards either team, for good or ill.This, however, is an opinion piece.I don't know how many of you reading this are native to the city of Buffalo, but those who are know how much we care about football.

CAS Dean Takes UB to the Cutting Edge

With the help of the newly appointed dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Uday Sukhatme, UB has broad plans to begin two new lecture series at UB: one aimed at attracting potential students and another to help freshmen choose between UB's 177 different majors.
