Buffalo Police investigate student robbery in University Heights

Two suspects robbed a UB student of his cell phone and wallet while the student was walking down Winspear Avenue, located right off of South Campus, with a friend at around 10:35 p.m. Sunday. The victim said the two suspects, male teenagers wearing dark clothing, approached him asking to use his cell phone, then one suspect pointed a black handgun at him while the other struck him in the head.


Lance Rintamaki, director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Communication, teaching his COM 492 class. Rintamaki’s structure for his final exams differ from other professors since he leaves the grading structure up to students.

UB professors have varying breakdowns for students’ final grades

Students often have grievances about how professors decide to calculate their final grade and the dreaded finals week, which runs from Dec. 14 until Dec. 21 this semester, as a whole. Professors across different departments have their own methods for breaking down students’ grades, and some even adjust their class structure to fit student preferences.

UB police officers recognized for excellence at SUNY Chiefs Association Awards

UPD Lieutenant Scott Marciszewski, Officer John Sindoni and Communications Officer Robert Adamski all received awards for professionalism on campus. The SUNY Chiefs Association Awards are held annually in Albany, New York to recognize the work university police departments within the SUNY system. The event presents officers with awards for heroism and professionalism.


Oliver and BSU were active last semester after the "White Only" art project controversy.

UPD investigates ‘racist and discriminatory’ letter sent to BSU president

The letter uses racial slurs and accuses several organizations, like the NAACP and the Black Lives Matters movement of being racist. Although UPD says the letter does not pose a direct threat to Oliver, it has run a number of assessments regarding the text of the letter, fingerprints and the physical letter itself. And as a precaution and per protocol, UB has shared the letter with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
