U.S. News and World Report Drops UB in Ranking

The recent release of the U.S. News and World Report's college rankings was met with arched eyebrows in the hallways of the UB, as the university was nowhere to be found among the 127 ranked schools, including all other SUNY centers.

Housing overflow lands students in area hotels

A flood of freshmen and transfer students has forced UB officials to house 155 students in two local motels and a South Campus office building for the fall semester, until space is found in the residence halls.Students are living in the Super 8 Motel on Flint Road in Amherst and the Microtel on Hospitality Center Way in Tonawanda.UB officials also converted three floors of Michael Hall on South Campus, which houses the student medical center, to residential housing.Joe Krakowiak, director of UB Residence Halls and Apartments, could not confirm a date by which students would move out of the hotels.

UB Robotics Club Aim for First Place

Years of practice and putting engineering skills to work will culminate in a laundry competition for the UB Robotics Club when they head to Knoxville, Tenn., on Sept 8 to face opposing robotics clubs.In Tennessee the club will take part in a television competition that will schedule teams of three, each representing a college, against one another in a fourteen-team tournament.
