Rehashing old ideas

Before its release, Tim Burton's "The Corpse Bride" looked promising. Burton had provided a stellar cast, Danny Elfman composed a distinctive musical score, and the stop-motion animation appeared even more high-tech than "The Nightmare Before Christmas."Those elements were undoubtedly in place.

Crew dominates at Head of the Ohio

The fall rowing season started off with a one-two finish in the varsity eight, the best showing the UB rowing team has ever had at the Head of the Ohio Regatta.The fact that the wins came against their two main rivals, West Virginia and Villanova, who defeated the Bulls last year, made the sweep that much sweeter."The team is working really hard, training 18 hours a week, six days a week," said head coach Rudy Wieler.

Since the mid-seventies, UB has cancelled classes on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. This year these holidays fall on a Tuesday and a Thursday, so those on a Tues.-Thurs.

Crofut is just one of Bulls' losses

Despite a milestone day for senior Anna-Lesa Calvert, UB women's soccer took a crushing hit Sunday, losing senior captain Natalia Crofut to a season-ending injury in a 1-0 loss to Central Michigan.Crofut, a leader on the field and first on the team in every major offensive category, came out early in the match and is out for the remainder of her senior year."Natalia Crofut went down with an ACL injury early in the first half," said head coach Jean A.

Border detention lawsuit goes to court

Nearly six months ago, two UB students and an instructor filed suit against the U.S. government for an allegedly illegal five-hour detention and racial profiling at the U.S.-Canada border.Now, as the school year progresses, so does the case.Hassan Shibly, Kerema Atassi and Sawsan Tabbaa are among five Muslim-Americans who filed the federal lawsuit in April, alleging they were wrongfully and illegally detained at the border when returning from an Islamic conference in Toronto in December 2004.The plaintiffs, all of whom are U.S.
