The band kid

With her backpack in hand, hair tied in a bun, and a navy blue fraternity shirt, she walks through the UB's halls with confidence. Chelsea Monroe is an assistant drum major for The Thunder of The East Marching Band. Monroe, a fifth-year senior communication and French major, is the leader of UB's band.

UB professor ranked one of the world's top innovators

Technology Review Magazinenamed a UB professor as one of the world's top innovators under the age of 35. Sarbajit Banerjee, an assistant professor of chemistry, was included in MIT Magazine's "TR35" for his technological innovations - specifically for his research in developing vanadium-oxide nanomaterials. Banerjee is among 35 recipients of the award.

Attempted robbery on South Campus

Early Sunday morning, a male was walking through Parker Lot when three males demanded his wallet. He refused to give it to them and was then assaulted. The attempted robbery occurred at 3:45 a.m.

Jonathon Myers, a freshman communication major, felt a severe blow to his confidence over the course of Labor Day weekend, due to what he believes is UB's general female population's complete and utter lack of taste.

God is in the details

Three chances at a vote, three equally audible bellows of "yea" and "nay." While the Democratic National Convention passed without anybody having conversations with furniture, the omission of God from the Democrats' 2012 platform had politicians and analysts alike outraged and confused. And while it was not the only thing originally left out from the platform (a firm stance on Jerusalem's position as the capital of Israel was also omitted), it was easily the most talked about aspect.

You've been here for two weeks, staring at those white concrete walls in your dorm room, wondering how to make your surroundings a little more like home and a little less like a prison cell.
