It’s the coming of age for college students – you’re still a high school student until you do it. You just can’t quite say that you’re “so college” until you ride the “drunk bus” and party on South Campus.
Sex education is taught with mixed methods, goals and outcomes throughout the country and the world. UB students from around the United States and the globe discuss the sexual education they received and what could be improved.
Some students feel the new laundry process has been over complicated and is now less convenient.

Starting in the fall, UB’s new housing program Global 360 will allow international and domestic students to choose to be paired as roommates to foster intercultural relationships.
On April 15, five teams competed at UB’s Center for the Arts for the first-place title at the Panasci competition, created by the UB School of Management and the UB Office of Science. This competition is funded with a $1 million endowment from the late Henry A. Panasci Jr.
In order to become temporary, a club needs at least 10 student signatures, a constitution and an adviser or coach. Sports clubs must register with an NCAA league to compete. To become a permanent club, student groups must host two club meetings, two club events, participate in two community service events, two SA events and complete two fundraising events. Clubs must also wait two semesters before applying for permanency.
Święconka (shve-yen-SOHN-ka), Dyngus Day and Wigilia may be unfamiliar to those who aren’t of Polish decent, but the Polish SA is making sure all of its members live out those traditions as fully as possible.
Last Wednesday, Swierski and her advanced public relations class, COM 453, held an event aimed at helping current and future patients waiting for organ donations. Since 2009, UNYTS has sponsored an event hosted by Swierski’s class to raise awareness about the need for organ and blood donors.
On Friday, The Muslim Women’s Council held “Ask a Muslim Woman” in order to inform students about the Muslim culture and religion. This gave students an opportunity to understand Muslim beliefs and ask them questions.
Buffalo Untapped was held in North Campus’ Lake Lasalle Lot and Alumni Arena’s Triple Gym from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday evening. It was an evening undergraduate students to become more aware of what eateries, breweries and vendors Buffalo has to offer.
#HappyPeriod is a social movement made of a group of girls who supply and donate feminine products to homeless shelters and distribute them to homeless people on the streets.
As an attempt to lessen laundry room complications, UB Campus Dining and Shops (CDS) created a new mobile app for students to reserve washers and dryers. Starting April 10, washers and dryers in Wilkeson and Fargo Quads in Ellicott will be switching to the new CBORD Mobile ID laundry system.
About 56 percent of recent graduates who did not have an internship during college have full-time jobs in their field, according to a survey conducted by Gallup and Purdue University. But the survey found 71 percent of students who did have an internship have full-time jobs in their field. Because of statistics like these, UB professors and faculty in Career Services stress the importance of students landing internships as a first step to working in their desired field.
All UB students can walk into Michael Hall rooms 208 and 209 on Thursday, April 2 between 1 and 4 p.m. to receive a free confidential HIV test.
While stricken with cancer her junior year, Kelsey Barbour used running as a mechanism to cope. Now a graduate student, Barbour is set to compete in the “4K for Cancer,” a cross-country relay-style event across the United States which will raise money for the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Kids.
Sasha Unger, a freshman undecided major, doesn’t have a car of her own, but she can still drive to the doctor or the grocery store with Zipcar. Zipcar is a car-sharing company that provides automobiles to its members.
