UB Relay for Life was held Friday in Alumni Arena. Over 84 teams and 1,486 participants raised $52,930.15 for cancer research. Throughout the 12-hour event, participants walked around the track and visited tables with decorations, candy and games set up throughout Alumni.

The Game of Life: UB Relay for Life raises over $50,000

UB Relay For Life celebrated its 10th year at its 12-hour event on Friday. The event, created by the American Cancer Society, raises money to fight cancer and aims to increase cancer awareness and celebrate cancer survivors. It is an overnight fundraising walk as teams “camp out” overnight and members walk around the track.

UB students organize strike with Fight for $15 to raise minimum wage

In the Student Union Flag Room on Wednesday, Frieh and Joel Inbody, a graduate sociology student, and a D’Youville student spoke at the panel. They discussed the workers’ right to unionize without backlash from managers and owners, the working conditions in fast food restaurants, cruel and exploitative managers and the struggles people face living on the current minimum wage – $8.75 in New York State.
