This year’s Spring Fest lineup leaked on Ticketmaster early Monday as Mac Miller, The Chainsmokers (pictured) and Coleman Hell. The Student Association confirmed these artists and a fourth, Icona Pop, will be performing at Spring Fest on April 23, with The Chainsmokers headlining.

EDM duo The Chainsmokers will headline this year's upcoming Spring Fest. Pittsburgh-based rapper Mac Miller, indie pop artist Coleman Hell and a yet-to-be named artist will also perform for Spring Fest, which will be held at Alumni Arena on Saturday, April 23. After The Spectrum reported Ticketmaster had leaked the artists on its website Monday afternoon, Student Association entertainment director Terese Regan confirmed all three artists. Regan could not reveal the unnamed fourth artist.

Untitled Unmastered boasts authenticity

Untitled Unmastered dropped Thursday March 3, much to the surprise and joy of hip-hop fans. The project gives a deeper look into both Kendrick Lamar – AKA “Cornrow Kenny” – and To Pimp a Butterfly. The previous album was already painfully aware of the dark side of society and Untitled Unmastered is another trip down the righteous path.

Motorpsycho’s atmospheric ‘Here Be Monsters’ is sophisticated but sleepy

Conceived in the late ’80s as a grunge band, Norwegian rock outfit Motorpsycho has covered a lot of ground in the past 25 years. With a career spanning more than 20 albums, Motorpsycho moved through an alternative phase in the ’90s and explored psychedelic rock in the 2000s. Their latest studio album, “Here Be Monsters,” continues their recent string of psychedelic progressive or ‘prog’ rock albums starting with 2010’s “Heavy Metal Fruit.”


The Oscars, despite being the award show’s 3rd lowest TV rating since its inception, was still ripe with controversy this weekend. From Chris Rock’s inflammatory monologue to Leonardo DiCaprio’s first Oscar win, the award show had quite a few memorable moments.

From host Chris Rock’s opening monologue about the lack of black nominees, all the way to “Spotlight” producer Michael Sugar’s plea for the Vatican to end child sexual abuse during the final acceptance speech of the night, Sunday’s Oscars left people talking about more than just Leonardo DiCaprio finally winning Best Actor or “Mad Max” taking home six awards.

‘Leviathan Wakes’ review: Break on through the doorway to our future

The overarching plot highlights a girl named Julie Mao working for the Outer Planets Alliance. She stumbles onto something she probably wishes she hadn’t on board a high-tech stealth ship. This prologue chapter from Mao’s perspective lays out the foundations of a mystery that remains just out of the readers reach until the last page is read.

UB students weigh in on the Oscars

It’s almost here: The night movie buffs and DiCaprio fans have been waiting for. This Sunday marks the 88th Academy Awards and for the past month, the media has been trying to answer the question, “Who is going to win?” “The Revenant” is up for best picture, DiCaprio is up for Best Actor and Brie Larson is in the running for Best Actress. Many UB students believe that Leonardo DiCaprio’s performance in “The Revenant” should be the winner. “He deserves it after making all those great films.
