The Facts Surrounding Drinking at UB

This year, one person will die every 50 minutes in an alcohol-related crash in the U.S. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 10,839 people will be killed as a result of drunk driving. At UB, many departments survey students on their habits, attitudes, and beliefs surrounding alcohol consumption.

Second Annual Poverty Workshop Draws a Large Crowd

On Friday afternoon, the basement of the St. Stanislaus Church Social Center was crowded with over 150 members of the Buffalo community for the second annual Poverty Research Workshop, which focused on the issue of women and homelessness. Buffalo is the third-highest region of poverty in the country, with 30 percent of the city's population living under the poverty level.

Update on University Honors College Relocation

The construction of the new University Honors College within Capen Library is expected to be finished by June 1, and the modern addition will bring an update to Capen Library. The Honors College, formerly in 214 Talbert Hall, will bring an abundance versatile space for its members and other students alike, according to Krista Hanypsiak, administrative director of the University Honors College. Representatives from the Honors College would make no comment on the cost of either the expansion or the grant that is said to have funded a lounge within the new facility. "It is important for students to have an area to meet together," Hanypsiak said.

Flyers for research being conducted at UB can be found almost everywhere. They scatter the hallways, are posted in every bathroom stall, and litter e-mail inboxes.
