Mike RadonRadon, a sophomore quarterback for the UB football team, has announced Tuesday his intentions to transfer from the University at Buffalo to attend a Division I-AA school as yet to be determined.

How Sweep It Is!

Despite the winter-like conditions, the Bulls were able to take both ends of a doubleheader from their cross-town rival Canisius Golden Griffins (11-23, 3-3 MAAC) Wednesday afternoon at the UB Softball Field.With the temperature in the low to mid 40s and with winds gusting up to 30 miles an hour, you would think the game was being played in November instead of April.

It's Play Time in the Student Union

UB students proved Thursday that beer pong is not the only game they know how to play.Students filled the Student Union Lobby on Thursday to participate in the third annual "Play-Day," an event which gave students a chance to play with board games such as Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders, and to revisit other childhood relics, like Play-Doh and sno-cones.According to Jennifer Wantz, a Student Life student activities associate, Play-Day - an event sponsored by Student Life and the Student Programming Board - is designed to allow students to relieve a little stress before final exams begin."This is what your money is paying for, so you may as well have some fun," Doug McNabb, a senior communication major, said.

This past week, when the National Labor Relations Board ruled that University at Buffalo research assistants could be eligible to join under their labor laws, it marked a solid victory for every party involved.

Students March on Capen to Protest Sweatshop Labor

Fifty students, carrying signs and chanting into megaphones, marched through the Academic Spine to Capen Hall on Wednesday afternoon to protest UB's policy on sweatshop labor.The students, many from the group UB Students Against Sweatshops, called for the university to affiliate with the Worker Rights Consortium, a watchdog group that currently monitors labor conditions for companies providing apparel for over 100 colleges and universities nationwide.Outside of Capen, the protesters gathered around a blue bench, which served as a podium for several speakers who rebuked administration officials - particularly President William R.

The United States Must Stop Supporting Terrorism

Despite what Michael Zarkin, the director of Hillel of Buffalo believes ("Tug of War: Students and Faculty Debate War in Iraq," April 16), there is nothing anti-Semitic about not supporting the policies of a right wing Christian fundamentalist government here in the United States that props up the government of the State of Israel with economic and military aid; it is quite simply an anti-terrorist stance.

Memorial Event Aimed at Raising AIDS Awareness

Rosetta Brunner walked into her doctor's office in 1985 for a check-up. At the time, she had no idea she would be diagnosed with AIDS.Today, Brunner has been living with AIDS for nearly 20 years, and she plans to get married soon.Brunner, coordinator of the Reach Out Program through the Erie County Department of Health, spoke to students as part of the spring AIDS Memorial in the Student Union Lobby on Monday in hopes of teaching about the dangers of the disease and its preventions.Brunner said her 20-year survival with the disease is due to having a "positive attitude.""You can live with it," Brunner said.
