Secondhand Lions: Second Rate

With a cast including two of the best senior actors around, Robert Duvall ("The Godfather," "Open Range") and Michael Caine ("The Cider House Rules), and child phenom Haley Joel Osment ("The Sixth Sense"), "Secondhand Lions" appeared to be the movie that could break this summer's cycle of disappointments.Instead, it perpetuates it.The story begins as 15 year-old Walter (Osment) is dropped off by his mother to stay with his wealthy, but miserly uncles, Hubb (Duvall) and Garth (Caine). Signs lining the edge of their long driveway read "Danger: Explosives," and "Turn Back NOW," setting a tone for the uncles' attitude toward guests."The last thing we need is some little sissy-boy hangin' around all summer," says Garth to the uninvited relatives.

UB vs. Iowa Game Preview

The opponent can take the wind out of a team's sails - as Rutgers did to the Bulls last week - but you cannot take the heart out of a team.UB will need to keep that same attitude and play with just as much heart to even have a minuscule chance against the Big 10 powerhouse Iowa Hawkeyes.

New Coffee House 'Perks' Up Ellicott Food Court

Usually, it would be strange to see the bottom halves of two or three people extending down from the ceiling of the Ellicott Complex. However, taking a few steps towards them reveals that their top halves are in the process of putting the finishing touches on the lighting and speakers of Perk's Coffee House, the latest addition to the Ellicott Food Court -- and still a bit of a work in progress.Perk's began with a study conducted in early 1998 by an affiliate of Marriott International, Inc., just after the arrival of the Faculty Student Association Executive Director Mitch Green."The idea for Perk's came about as part of the research we did several years ago when we were developing the Ellicott Food Court," said Green.
