SA forums aim for student input

In hopes of adding an extra element of student participation to their decisions, SA officials are seeking a big turnout for an open forum on Thursday, but the response to the planned discussion has been less than lukewarm.Leslie Meister, SA Student Affairs director, said she's been promoting the forum for three weeks and has yet to receive any responses from the general student body.The forum's goal, she said, is "to get the general student body's perspective of SA?

Decorating your living space!

I was sitting in my cave one day, receding into a pile of dirty laundry and food wrappers, when I had an idea.Hey," I said to myself aloud, "Why don't I find that pet hamster I lost a couple months ago?"Pick axe and shovel in hand, I began to unearth the geological layers of debris that had accumulated on the floor throughout the months.I never did end up finding the hamster, but somewhere in the Mesozoic layer I accidentally began to clean my room instead.

No sweat for UB apparel

The executive director from one of the two labor rights groups UB joined last spring confirmed that the university is officially in compliance with all the rules and regulations concerning the production of its apparel."UB is in accordance with our guidelines," said Scott Nova, executive director of the Workers' Rights Consortium.

WRUB-ing off on the student body

Students rivaled to see who could take the most shots of hot sauce, walked away with free goldfish, played Texas Hold 'Em and had their heads voluntarily shorn into mohawks for WRUB Day in the Student Union last Thursday.The mission of the annual fundraiser hosted by the student radio station was to get the word out that students even have their own radio station - it runs on TV and Webcast - as an alternative to Buffalo's commercialized radio."One thing I did this semester was send out letters to the SA to get us to work together as a community," said programming director Raymond Rohring.
