"Delirium' a dazzling, delightful nightmare"

Art moguls, parents, stoners, seniors, children and casual thrill-seekers can rarely all enjoy the same entertainment, but with the innovations of Cirque du Soleil, they can all rejoice in the same incredible experience.Audiences were treated to a dazzling synthesis of music, acrobatics and multimedia at the HSBC Arena Monday when Cirque du Soleil presented "Delirium."Delirium" showcases 20 of the internationally renowned performance group's most famous songs remixed by Quebecois producer and musician Francis Collard.At most events, front-row seats are more desirable, but the arrangement of "Delirium" raises the value of the cheap seats.

If Dave Attell knows anything about UB students, it's that we are perverse, offensive and shameless.Comedian Dave Attell, known as the "Insomniac" for his late-night Comedy Central series, came to the Center for the Arts on Friday with his signature hobo beard, working boots and brash humor.His first half-hour was rock solid, and each delivery of tactless comedy received the house's unanimous laughter.

Football financesThe Buffalo News reports that the UB football team has begun changing its direction to be not only a sports team, but a profitable business in the collegiate athletics world as well.UB is reportedly aiming to back out of previously scheduled games against the University of West Virginia and Rutgers University, in order to schedule games against Bowl Championship Series teams.The Bulls are attempting to build a bigger out-of-conference schedule that will field larger paydays.

Festival films zoom in on local hardships

Headlining the 10th anniversary of the Women's International Film Festival will be movies portraying women's struggles not just globally, but also local issues endured right here in Western New York.This spring marks a decade-long run for the festival, which is hosted by UB's Institute for Research and Education on Women and Gender and plays on Thursday nights at the Market Arcade downtown.Aiming to annually introduce audiences to the role of women in cultures from around the world, the festival also looks beyond the films' content and into their production, said Barbara Bono, co-director of the UB institute."It's difficult for women film directors to gain recognition," Bono said.

Grapplers drop conference match at Kent State

Forfeits at 125 pounds have become a regular thing for the wrestling team. The match on Friday against Kent State was no exception, and the Bulls lost 21-13.Buffalo has been unable to fill the hole in their line-up in five of their last six Division I match-ups, automatically giving up six team points and creating a pre-match hole for the team.Friday's meet started out well for the Bulls.

Seven proves unlucky as Bulls lose again

Numbers don't always tell the whole story and statistics sometimes lie, but no matter how the box score is spun, the fact remains that Buffalo was dismantled Saturday afternoon.The women's basketball team dropped its seventh game in a row due to trouble with turnovers, and a stiff defense held the Bulls to 30.8 percent shooting from the field.
