"Fall Fest fashion, for him and for her"
By DUANE OWENS and SARA DINATALE | Aug. 30, 2012Be Cool, Don't Overdo It: What To Wear To Fall Fest The first weekend of school is upon us and for surviving the barrage of syllabi we've been receiving all week, we are rewarded with our annual Fall Fest concert. The purpose of thisconcert is to kick off a good year and to keep us relaxed, because a concert is really just one huge dope event that's supposed to be chill - with emphasis on chill.
#DeepThoughtsByKeren
By KEREN BARUCH | Aug. 30, 2012Many people ask the question: What's a summer fling? Well, isn't it obvious? It's doing the dirty over the summer. Whether "doing the dirty" means having wild sex or just holding hands, whether it means with one or 100 different people, it's constantly having your mind on your significant other(s) during the summer season.
Spectrum alumni acknowledged nationwide
Aug. 30, 2012Two former Spectrum editors are being nationally recognized for articles written in UB's student-run newspaper last school year. Out of 592 entries, former Editor in Chief Matthew Parrino earned a spot as a finalist for the Associated Collegiate Press Sports Story of the Year for his article The X-Files, a story of Xavier Ford's tough upbringing and road to success as he earned a scholarship on the UB basketball team published in Nov.

This weekend in Buffalo just got saucy
By ERIN MAYNARD | Aug. 30, 2012For the past decade, Labor Day weekend in Buffalo has meant two things: the unofficial end of summer and lots of chicken wings.

Adrien's Audio Den
By ADRIEN D'ANGELO | Aug. 30, 2012I am thrilled to introduce a brand new weekly series aimed at our campus' audio heads. For people who take music seriously - whether they're guitarists, DJs, producers, or simply avid listeners - it's all about the gear. By starting this series of reviews, I want to help bring music lovers on campus the thirst for gizmos that we seem to share in the music biz. Headphones, guitar amps, microphones, studio equipment, DJ interfaces and just about anything that turns electricity into sound will be reviewed by yours truly. And of course, with the average student's budget in mind, I will try to find devices for the frugally inclined.

UB is ranked as top college employer for fifth year
By SAM FERNANDO | Aug. 30, 2012UB continues holding its title as a great place to work. For another year, the university holds a spot on a list published by The Chronicle for Higher Education. In a survey taken by 47,000 people from 294 institutions all over the country, The Chronicle has named UB as one of the top 103 colleges to work for. The list of institutions was determined by a survey that asked administrators, faculty members and professional staff questions about both the institution itself in regards to its educational prowess, as well as an evaluation of the institution as an employer. According to the survey, UB excelled in two areas in particular: "Compensation and Benefits" and "Tenure Clarity and Process." Michael A.
Fall films preview
By DUANE OWENS | Aug. 29, 2012While drinking and class are some of the main activities that we engage in as students, they can take a toll on the body if practiced everyday. Catching a flick once in a while is good for the soul and winter is steadily approaching, so you have to be prepared and know when the good movies are dropping.
Fall albums that deserve an ear or two
By ADRIEN D'ANGELO | Aug. 29, 2012Here are some back-to-school albums to look forward to while the campus turns slowly into a giant icicle. This list is a mere centimeter out of the yards of album releases this fall. However, the cream of the current harvest is undoubtedly included with three of the hottest young artists and one folk legend that need no introduction.
"I bleed blue and white (and some black, too)"
By BEN TARHAN | Aug. 29, 2012I love uniforms. Seriously, all that fabric with the different designs and colors that fans over pay for every year, I love it. So much so that I will spend countless hours staring at Google image search results of any and all uniforms that I can find.

It's just a feather
By ELVA AGUILAR | Aug. 29, 2012When I transferred to UB as a sophomore, I was petrified. I left St. Bonaventure due to its size and lack of diversity to a larger school that, in numbers, seemed like the place for me.

An outsider's guide on what to do in the Nickel City
By LYZI WHITE | Aug. 29, 2012When I first applied to UB, all of my friends asked me the same thing: "Isn't it cold there?" I usually replied: "Yeah, it probably is but my brother goes there, and it's far from
