Friday evening, country fans gathered in the Alumni Arena parking lot for UB's 2014 Spring Fest.

Do what the voice tells you

If you were on campus Wednesday afternoon, you may have seen students acting strange. Some were dancing in a flash mob, taking selfies and doing animal walks. These students were participating in the MP3 Experiment.

Students for Life bring anti-abortion display to campus for second year

Directly outside the Student Union on Monday and Tuesday, students were greeted with a question: "What do you think about human rights?" Members of the UB Students for Life handed out pamphlets with photographs of aborted fetuses, mirroring the billboard display behind them. The Center for Bio-Ethical Reform, a national organization that is anti-abortion, was asked to plan the event with Students for Life.

The great graduate debate

Every year, graduating seniors debate between two options as a stepping-stone into their futures: going straight to graduate school or pursuing a job. Questions of finances and potential unemployment weigh heavily in the minds of many soon-to-be UB graduates as they debate lunging into the professional world or continuing higher education.

Speckman and Gallardo break program records

Individual performances by members of the softball team will forever be remembered as two seniors etched their names into the school record books this weekend. Senior pitcher Tori Speckman and senior shortstop Sammi Gallardo are now the sole leaders of wins and homeruns for the Buffalo softball program, respectively.

UB Council student representative election ruled invalid

The results of the UB Council student representative election were voided Friday by the University Council Elections Committee in a majority vote. Elections Committee Chair Matt Siwiec informed the six candidates of the committee's decision in an email sent at 4:08 p.m. "The committee's decision aims to restore students' trust in the election process and demonstrate that the expectation of professionalism will be enforced," he said in the email. For the new election to be valid, it must take place within the academic year.

UB council student rep accused of 'overstepping boundaries'

Former Student Association hiring committee member Rory Miller claims current UB Council Student Representative Daniel Ovadia has overstepped his boundaries in the race for UB Council representative and in SA's hiring procedures. Miller, a senior communication major who has resigned from the hiring committee after working in the SA for three-and-a-half years, believes Ovadia has inappropriately inserted himself into Minahil Khan's campaign for UB Council student representative, the position Ovadia currently occupies.

SA VP and President to run on separate ballots in 2015

On Wednesday, the Student Association Assembly voted to change election guidelines to have presidential and vice presidential candidates running on separate ballots. During an impromptu Senate meeting on the same night, the SA Senate passed an amendment allowing the SA president to appoint the SUNY delegates. The Assembly also voted Melissa Kathan, a sophomore political science major, to be Speaker of the Assembly for the second year in a row. The previous election system required the presidential and vice presidential candidate to be elected together.

Cement canoe to row and glow in the dark in regional competition

There are three thingsthat the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) members hope will give them an advantage in the Upstate New York Regional Conference: a steel bridge, a glow-in-the-dark cement canoe and a cowbell. ASCE will once again compete in the at Cornell University this Thursday through Sunday.

Let's talk about geese babies

Spring - a season for cherry blossoms, greener grass, less clothing and the creation of baby geese. On Friday, Campus Living sent an email to students living on campus, alerting them to be cautious of the geese during their mating season.
