Lieder of the MAC
Josh Liederman, a senior on the men's tennis team, was named the Mid-American Conference men's tennis player of the week for his performance in the Bulls' victory over Toledo last weekend.
Liederman defeated the Rockets' Travis Curran in a third set tiebreaker to ink the match for the Bulls, 4-3.
This victory at the Village Glen Tennis Center was the first of five matches on the Bulls' home court, including two matches scheduled for this weekend.
Tonight, the Bulls will face Ball State at 7 p.m., and on Saturday, the men are set to face Northern Illinois at 1 p.m.
Academics afloat
The College Swim Coaches Association of America selected 52 division I men's swimming and diving programs as Academic All-American teams.
UB's swimming and diving team rolled into a tie for 12th place with a 3.13 team GPA, which tied the Bulls with Xavier of the Atlantic 10 Conference. Other Mid-American Conference schools that made the top 20 were Eastern Michigan, Ohio University and Ball State. The top team was Yale.
In addition to being recognized as a team, four individuals from UB's swimming and diving team were named to the MAC All-Academic team.
Luke Adams, Jeff Hurst, Mark Sy and Geoff Wells were each named MAC All-Academic athletes.
UB had the second most members of the All-Academic team, as Ball State topped Buffalo with five honorees.
