Volleyball holds event to fight cancer

The volleyball team will host their "Dig for the Cure" event this Saturday at 7 p.m. at Alumni Arena. The event is set up to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research.

The Bulls are selling memorial ribbons for $1 during their games on Friday and Saturday as well as allowing spectators to pledge $1 per dig for their Saturday match. All profits will be donated to the Susan G. Komen for The Cure, a WNY Affiliate.

Shannon and Veith earn weekly honor

Sophomore defensive back Davonte Shannon from the football team was named athlete of the week this week. Shannon had career-best 20 tackles this past Saturday when Buffalo played Army, the most tackles by a Bull in the Division I Era.

Female athlete of the week is Mary Veith, a senior from the women's cross-country team. Veith finished third on a 6K course with a time of 22:01.96 at the Bowling Green Falcon Invitational.
