Best place to rock out

Buffaloians prepare to catch the fever - disco fever that is. Symptoms include the sudden urge to dance to the Bee Gees, Donna Summers or Barry White, attempting to rock the boat, or (shake, shake, shake) shaking your booty.

To cure the ailment, show up at the Buffalo Convention Center at 9 p.m. on November 29, when the World's Largest Disco is scheduled to arrive in town.

But be sure to show up in proper disco attire to fit in with the rest of the John Travolta, Evil Knievel and Barbara Streisand impersonators, which means bringing the dusty bell bottoms from storage or borrowing your dad's out-of-date patterned suits.

The party is sure to be of monstrous proportion and has an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records to prove it. The annual event was first held at the Buffalo Convention Center in 1979 and has been making the news and primetime TV since then.

Help set another world record by dancing all night to the hits of the '70s. Proceeds from tickets also go to a selected charity.

Disco lovers in past years have embarrassed themselves in the company of celebrities of yesteryear such as Danny Bonaduce from The Partridge Family and Christopher Knight of The Brady Bunch fame. This year's special guest will be announced the morning of the event.

Tickets are sold out for this year's event, but it's never too early to mark your calendars for next year, disco aficionados. You can call or e-mail them for more information, visit worldslargestdisco.com.
