On Oct. 31, you're bound to see many intoxicated girls and guys dressed in Party City's best, as corrupt cops, hot fire fighters or naughty nurses. Concerned citizens can do the Buffalo community a favor and be creative with their costumes this year by hitting up Buffalo's thrift stores.
Put together a scary, sexy or outlandish outfit for about $5 at the closest thrift store. Your best bet is to head to Amvets Thrift Store on 1833 Elmwood Ave. or the Salvation Army Thrift Store on 1089 Niagara Falls Blvd., though there are plenty of picks around Buffalo.
Vintage treasures to be found to include costume jewelry for being Elizabeth Taylor circa 1958.
In all thrift stores and consignment shops, there are massive collections of dresses, shirts, suits and accessories.
Dig up an old wig and pair it with a vintage dress and voila, you have a costume.
Vintage is in. Pick up a plaid T-shirt, vintage sunglasses, patterned dresses and a large waist-cinching belt and you're set.
