Report: Mets to be new Buffalo Bisons affiliate

The Buffalo Bisons' chance to become the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets looks favorable but has yet to be confirmed.

The New York Daily News is reporting that the Mets expect to sign a deal with the Bisons rather then the Syracuse Chiefs after they leave New Orleans. The deal is said to take place sometime later this week and to be announced in a news conference in Buffalo next Monday.

According to the Daily News, the Mets are looking to get an equity stake in the Syracuse team. If that were to fall through, Buffalo would be their selection.

Volleyball star named MAC-East Player of the Week

Sophomore mid-blocker Kristin Bignell of the volleyball team was announced as the MAC East Player of the Week on Monday.

Bignell is the first volleyball player to win the award since Lindsay Matikosh in 2003. Bignell leads the team with a .412 hitting mark, 96 kills and 19 blocks this season.

Bignell was ranked 21st in the nation in hitting percentage in the latest national rankings.
