TIMELINE


MARCH 21: Space Shuttle STS-123 Endeavor is launched to rendezvous with the international space station. Endeavor is delivering the first section of the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency's Kibo Laboratory and the Canadian Space Agency's two-armed robotic system, Dextre.

MARCH 26: Shuttle STS-123 Endeavor returns to Earth from a five-day orbit and a successful mission.

MARCH 27: Initial cases of an unknown viral infection are reported to the Center for Disease Control by doctors at Cape Canaveral Hospital. All patients infected with this virus die within hours of admittance. Then they come back to life and eat their doctors.

MARCH 27-31: Attempts to contain virus within hospitals and towns meet with limited, then no success. A mass exodus begins from the Cape, then the Florida Panhandle itself. On the 29th, President Bush declares a national state of emergency.

MARCH 31: The National Guard is ordered to enforce a government-ordered quarantine of the Florida Panhandle. Reports of infection from beyond the quarantine border begin to reach the CDC emergency hotline late in the day.

APRIL 1: President Bush declares martial law.
