Athletes of the week

UB's male and female athletes of the week are Mike Rockman of the men's tennis team and Stacey Evans of the softball team.

Evans recorded two wins and a save in four games for the Bulls last week. Her consistent play helped the Bulls sweep Northern Illinois on the road. The senior pitcher was able to get a save in the first game of a doubleheader, and pitched a complete game, winning the second game. She also appeared in two games earlier in the week against local rival Canisius.

Evans ended the week with a 0.40 ERA, as she allowed only one run over 17.1 innings.

Rockman became UB's Division I single-season wins leader last week after winning his 25th match of the year against Niagara's Erick Garcia. Additionally, Rockman won his singles match against Indiana University-Purdue University-Fort Wayne on Saturday to record his 26th win of the season. Rockman also passed Randy Rocchio for fourth place on the career wins list, with 46.

Three aces

The Bulls defeated IPFW on Saturday by a final score of 5-2, behind the efforts of their top three singles players, Nick Zieziula, Mike Rockman and Yules Hadisubroto.

Zieziula, Rockman and Hadisubroto all defeated their opponents in singles play after the Bulls dropped the doubles point to the Mastodons.

This was the Bulls' final regular season match of the season before starting Mid-American Conference Tournament play on April 28.

All five of UB's singles victories were recorded in straight sets. The only singles match that the Bulls lost was Josh Liederman's match against Ian Leonhardt, 6-4, 7-6 (5) at fourth singles.

Additionally, UB won one doubles match with the team of Zieziula and Hadisubroto, defeating the Mastodons' pairing of Larry Nzudie and Nabil Mourad Filho.

The Bulls end the regular season with a record of 8-8 overall and 3-2 in the MAC.
