The department of athletics released the men's and women's athletes of the week for last week. Gary Asbach and Ann Magur were the respective recipients.
Magur, a softball player, went 4-for-6 in a doubleheader at Eastern Michigan. The Bulls lost the first game of the double bill, but won the second game, 9-0, behind Magur's 4-for-4 hitting. She scored two runs and knocked in five RBI. In conference games this season, Magur is batting .357 with six RBI and a slugging percentage of .500.
Asbach of the men's track and field team was able to sweep the horizontal jumps on Saturday at the Ohio invitational. He was victorious in the long jump with a distance of 22-1.5 feet. Asbach also gained a victory in the triple jump, where his jump of 44-12.50 feet gave him the biggest jump of the day.
In addition to his jumping prowess, Asbach was the anchor of the Bulls' 400-meter relay team, which finished third. In his individual leg of the race, Asbach recorded a time of 11.76 in the 100-meter race to finish sixth in that event.
