Regarding "Out Loud and Proud" in the March 9 issue, which contains the quote "our campus is really awesome and liberal."
Aside from sending shivers down my staunchly conservative spine, these words forced me to come to the realization that it is now perceived as 'awesome' for a publicly-owned campus to take sides on of one of today's greatest moral and genetic debates, that is, homosexuality.
Even if you believe being homosexual is acceptable there's still no excuse for the flaunting of any sexuality in such a public display as those described in the article. It's no wonder why conservatives have a hard time accepting this 'community' when their idea of 'pride' involves grown men prancing around in women's clothing. Now, I don't blame the people who attend this event for going there. I'm sure it was outrageously comical to see adults behave like that and think it would mean they would be given more respect and taken more seriously by the public.
Speaking of which, exactly what is with this 'pride' I keep hearing? Is that the excuse for these shows? I'm proud of many things in my life, but I don't hold a public assembly to show off my high school sporting or academic trophies. I can privately understand my accomplishments and not really care if anybody else knows about them or not. Perhaps I have a level of security that the gay community is trying to achieve through boisterous displays of filth. Perhaps the community is simply in denial of the awareness that they are not normal, and is seeking attention through social rebellion.
Perhaps if homosexuals kept their sexuality behind closed doors like most heterosexuals don't have a problem doing then I would have more respect for them. But the harder they try to shove their lifestyle in my mouth with extravaganza the farther I'll stick my finger down my throat to purge myself of their revolting ways.
