Class Sends Wrong Message

Letter To the Editor

My biggest gripe about pornography is that, in my opinion, it sends the wrong message to young people about sexual relationships between a man and a woman ("Porn Class Heats Up Spring Registration," Nov. 22). It fills your head with garbage. I prefer to put garbage in the trash and not in my head.

When you consider that approximately 25 percent of women will be sexually abused before they turn 18 and each pedophile on average abuses hundreds of children, you get some of the picture of the proportion of the problem of sexual predation against women and children.

I believe that pornography contributes to the sexual predation of women and children. I was going to enroll in the Cyber Porn class just to see how it would be taught, but a class size of 380 is way to impersonal to teach any topic, especially one that is this controversial.

When UB has the gumption to teach Cyber Porn to a few dozen students at a time perhaps, I would consider enrolling.
