Electing Bush was Mistake

I am angry. Not just because Bush won the election, or Kerry conceded, or that the right wing agenda is once again being pushed onto the general public or that my rights have been violated for four years and more of my rights as a citizen of this country are going to be erased in the next four. I am angry for all of that and a whole lot more.

Electing Bush is forgiving his past transgressions and giving him license to stay on his path of forcing over 250 million people to one view of a family, one version of God, one view of world politics and one view of what should be allowed in this country.

I do not accept John Kerry's concession. Kerry not only conceded, he slapped every person who voted for him in the face. Every person who fought tooth and nail against Bush's policies, every person who supported him, every person who spent their free time forgoing other priorities to educate voters, register voters, and ensure his election, every person who has been adversely affected the past four years and who desperately, fundamentally need a change.

Kerry stated that we should continue to fight for our causes. How are we supposed to take cues from Kerry, who has done just the opposite? We have to keep writing letters to Congress, representatives and the White House even when we have no allies in those places. We have to continue to protest and march for causes that impact our lives even when we're seen as unimportant citizens. We have to fight discrimination every day of our lives when the leader of our country encourages it and writes it into our laws.

I am angry that for another four years of my life, I will have to live in fear of those who want to tell me that I do not exist, I am immoral, I am wrong, I am damaging those around me and making this country a worse place to live in. For another four years, I have to fight for the right to speak. I will not take this lying down. I will continue to fight for my rights and the rights of others. We cannot give up. We cannot let this man ruin our name and our lives any longer.
