It is just absurd to me how many people support George W. Bush. The economy is one of the worst states it has ever been in. The man got us into an un-winnable war. It's just chaos over there that will not get better. More than 1,000 people have died on the American side alone. That's not to mention thousands of Iraqis and the dozens of soldiers from armies in the "Coalition of the Willing."
On top of that, right-wingers say that liberals are destroying the country. They have the sheer nerve to say something like that when they're the ones sending people to die. Now I know not all conservatives feel that way, but the vast majority of them do.
On CNN two days ago they aired a little report on a study done by the University of Maryland. They polled 35 countries and tried to figure out whom they would vote for. Of the 35 countries, 30 voted overwhelmingly for Kerry. In Great Britain, our closest ally, Bush lost by a 48-point margin.
Also, any foreign leader who has been identified with Bush has either been kicked out of office or told to stay away from him during election time. The Spanish president lost to a socialist. The president of Australia, John Howard, is being told to avoid Bush. And now in Britain, as Tony Blair is up for re-election, his campaign staff has warned him to try and avoid Bush for a while.
I love the Einstein quote, "Heroism at command, senseless brutality, deplorable love-of-country stance, how violently I hate all of this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action!"
I guess I'm just one of those bleeding-heart liberals who believes in women's rights, social equality, fewer government payoffs, and peace. It's time to figure out why we want to go through four more years of this.
