Baseball

The Bulls held their home opener this weekend against Bowling Green University and found their stride in taking the first game of a four game set 11-6 on Friday afternoon. Buffalo improved to 8-11, and 2-4 in MAC play, while the Falcons fell to 12-16, 4-5 in conference play.

Brendan Dunford picked up the win for UB, pitching a complete game and escaping a ninth-inning bases loaded jam, when Kelly Hunt of Bowling Green popped out to seal the win for the Bulls. UB notched six runs in their final at-bat to take the lead for good.

The doubleheader that was to follow on Saturday was moved back to Sunday, due to inclement weather. More rain on Sunday moments before game time forced the rescheduled doubleheader to be canceled as well.

Softball

On Saturday the UB women's softball team dropped two MAC contests on the road against Northern Illinois by scores of 9-0 and 9-1, respectively. The Huskies contained the Bulls to just three hits in the two games combined, while NIU had 33 hits of their own in the two games.

The Huskies improved to (15-19, 8-3 MAC), while Buffalo fell to (4-17, 1-10 MAC).

Women's Tennis

The team traveled to Ohio on Friday to take on the University of Toledo and fell 7-0 in the MAC dual match. Toledo swept all three doubles matches as well as all six singles matches. In singles play, Buffalo failed to win even four games in any individual set. The Bulls are next in action against Bowling Green State University on Friday, April 19 at 1 p.m. at the UB tennis complex.
