Sidelines

Tim Sova

The baseball team's Sova was named UB Male Athlete of the Week for the week of April 15. Sova, a senior outfielder, matched his career best with four hits in a MAC victory against the Bowling Green Falcons. As of press time, he is currently riding a five-game hitting streak and is batting a stellar .313. His defensive work has also been impressive with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 24 games.

Laura Olson

On the women's side of the coin, track's Olson was named the Bulls Female Athlete of the Week as she took home the championship in the pole vault competition at the Bucknell Open in Lewisburg, Penn. Olson was miles above the competition - or inches, if you will - as she took the event with a height of 11'4". She was the only entrant to clear the 11-foot mark.

Football

Fans have their first opportunity to view the UB football team in 2002 when the squad splits up for the annual Blue/White game tonight. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at UB Stadium. The Blue/White game marks the end of spring workouts.

Men's Tennis

On an interesting note, the UB men's tennis team won Tuesday via default over Canisius College. Apparently Canisius forgot that they had a match to play against the Bulls.
