UB police officers recognized for excellence at SUNY Chiefs Association Awards

UPD Lieutenant Scott Marciszewski, Officer John Sindoni and Communications Officer Robert Adamski all received awards for professionalism on campus. The SUNY Chiefs Association Awards are held annually in Albany, New York to recognize the work university police departments within the SUNY system. The event presents officers with awards for heroism and professionalism.


Jade Conlee is a UB graduate student who came from New York University. She received a Fulbright scholarship to study music in Germany and is currently a teaching assistant for the music department at UB.

UB alumni discuss possibilities for music majors after graduation

Viral lists of the most useless majors usually include music in one of the top spots. But several music majors, including UB alumni, have found success in the field of music post-graduation. “You’ve definitely got to hustle with a music degree,” said Jeffrey Stadelman, chair of the Department of Music. “A job isn’t going to fall into your lap, so being proactive is definitely necessary. It’s really up to the student.”


Places like Jamba Juice, Edgy Veggies and Seasons Café  give students the option to eat healthy while on the go.

UB Student Assoication Assembly talks University Heights and Uber

he Assembly discussed creating taskforce committees for issues in the Heights neighborhood and the possibilities of bringing car-sharing services like Lyft and Uber to Buffalo. “UB administration has reached out to me about the issues surrounding the Heights,” said SA President Minahil Khan. “We came up with the idea of having student representatives to the Heights to be able to speak on the student perspective.”


Jennifer Zirnheld is an associate engineering professor whose research focuses on engineering innovations to fight cancer. Zirnheld was recognized by INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine as one of 100 most influential women in STEM.

Professor Jennifer Zirnheld recognized as one of 100 most inspiring women in STEM

INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine recognized Jennifer Zirnheld, an engineering professor, as one of 100 most inspiring women in the STEM fields. The magazine celebrates diversity in academics and focuses on its inclusion into higher education fields. It focuses particularly on the STEM fields, which are science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Zirnheld’s research focuses on engineering innovations to fight cancer.
