Thursday was our last day in The Spectrum office. I walked in to the office around 11 a.m. to find my desk decorated, topped with flowers, chocolate and a letter from next year's News Desk. To be honest, I was baffled.

University Police Arrest UB Alumnus in Goodyear Assault

Investigators have arrested Michael E. Hicks, 22, of Rochester, for allegedly assaulting Michal Kociuba, a freshman exercise science major, early Sunday morning on South Campus, University Police announced Tuesday afternoon. Kociuba was assaulted in the Goodyear Residence Hall lobby in an apparently unprovoked attack, according to UPD Chief of Police Gerald W.

UB Council Convenes

On Monday morning, the UB Council met for the first time since Satish K. Tripathi was recommended to be UB's 15th president. Chairman Jeremy Jacobs spearheaded the meeting, which addressed the recommendation of Officer in Charge Tripathi, the 2011 Norton Medal nomination, and the resolution in support of tuition policy and reforms from SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher. SUNY Chancellor Endorses Tripathi's Candidacy

SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher announced on March 17 that she has recommended Provost Satish K. Tripathi as UB's 15th president. The SUNY Board of Trustees must approve Tripathi's nomination, and Zimpher has asked to hold a special meeting with the board around April 1 to consider Tripathi's recommendation. The Presidential Search Committee "unanimously and enthusiastically" recommended Tripathi for the position, according to a letter from Jeremy M.

Presidential Search Speculations Arise

Satish K. Tripathi, provost for seven years, is reported to be one of two finalists under consideration for the position of UB's 15th president, according to The Buffalo News. The Buffalo News ran an article on Thursday, which stated that Tripathi's name had surfaced in recent days as a leading candidate.
