Engineering Egg Drop a Smashing Success
By BRIAN SMOLINKSKI | Feb. 25, 2004The usually noisy Student Union seemed a touch quieter Tuesday as 150 participants and observers gathered near the candy counter.A second later, a loud splat echoed through the Union and the noise returned, as all in attendance let loose a collective "Whoa!"With this splat, the annual Egg Drop Contest kicked off the first competition of National Engineers Week at UB.

By BRIAN SMOLINKSKI | Feb. 18, 2004Driven by months of hard training and spurred on by a desire to find a cure for an illness that affects his family and friends, a UB graduate will run from ocean to ocean this fall to raise money for diabetes research.For six months starting in July, Jason Gross, a graduate of the Class of '98, will pound the pavement from New York to Los Angeles.He has said that if he is successful, he could raise $100,000 for research into Type II diabetes.
