There's no crying in baseball, but there is definitely cheating. The Baseball Writers' Association of America (BBWAA) released its Hall of Fame ballot on Wednesday, and the age-old argument of steroids in baseball has reared its ugly head.
Say Yes to the Dress, Four Weddings and David Tutera's My Fair Wedding all have one thing in common: fairytale weddings.
It's official: SRSI is shut down. Last Monday, President Tripathi announced in a faculty email he would be closing the highly contested Shale Resources and Society Institute, citing criticism regarding the institute's funding ambiguity and a lack of "sufficient faculty presence." The "cloud of uncertainty" that Tripathi mentions in his letter is not isolated to just SRSI, however, as it still lingers over the university.
The holiday season is upon us, and it wouldn't feel like Christmas without the tree, snow and, of course, war. Yes, that's right.
I have just read the email sent by President Tripathi about the closing of the Shale Resources and Society Institute.
A Senate bill on cyber surveillance is set to go to vote on Thursday, and officials have been running in circles with privacy advocates nipping at their heels for the last two weeks.
I don't understand why everyone is up in arms. It makes perfect sense. On Wednesday afternoon, UB Athletics announced head football coach Jeff Quinn and Athletic Director Danny White have agreed in principle to a contract extension through the 2017 season.
The era has begun; he's finally here. He stands in the pocket and delivers passes to receivers like his high school career promised. Redshirt freshman quarterback Joe Licata is the cornerstone of the Bulls' (4-7, 3-4 Mid-American Conference) winning identity. Licata has led the Bulls to three straight wins, the longest winning streak under head coach Jeff Quinn.
"Have you ever had sexual intercourse with a man who has had sexual intercourse with another man, even once?" When your pants were off and you sat there in pending lust and passion, did you ask your partner the sex of his previous partners?
If this year's election showed the nation anything, it's that getting people to pay attention can get pricey, but it's worth it. According to Lauren Ashburn, editor in chief at Daily-Download.com, Barack Obama's campaign outspent Mitt Romney's campaign 10 to 1 on digital spending.
Sometimes journalists have to learn the rules the hard way. Athletic officials at the University of Washington warned a reporter to not tweet so much while he was covering the school's basketball game against Loyola Maryland on Sunday. Todd Dybas, a local sports beat writer, sent out a tweet saying: "Tonight I was reprimanded by the University of Washington for tweeting too much during a live event." The incident brought attention to an interesting new rule for live coverage by outside press: UW's policy states "periodic updates of scores, statistics or other brief descriptions of the competition throughout the event are acceptable" - as long as they don't exceed 20 tweets per basketball game or 45 per football game. While we frequently stand up for other journalists, this time we stand behind the University of Washington on its policy. Washington is not the only institution with this rule in place.
The Falcons finally lost; there was a tie game for the first time in four years; four starting quarterbacks for high-profile teams were injured; and my record over the past four weeks is now 8-3-1.
This is the time of year for a lot of fowl play. It's the time of year turkeys are being put up everywhere outside of homes.
I just can't put it off any longer. 'Tis the season to once again to whip out the Christmas decorations and blast a playlist of such merry songs as "Jingle Bell Rock" and "Winter Wonderland." Yes, I'm aware it's the middle of November. I've gotten a lot of criticism - past and present - for how early I start my Christmas season.
It was one of the most anticipated season openers in recent memory in Buffalo. After graduating a senior class that had the most wins in school history, fans and media alike focused on the junior class, expecting 'the five' to lead the men's basketball team to another successful season. The season opener did not go as planned.
Scenario: it's Friday night. What are you going to do? The MSG Network has a few options for you.
In 2012, there are still people protesting the re-election of a black president. Media outlets reported on Tuesday night that students at Ole Miss held a protest of President Obama's re-election.
Anyone with a Twitter account should have noticed a hashtag trend last week that had the Internet filled with grief. #RIPMitchLucker. And while most of you might be unfamiliar with who Mitch Lucker is, the metal music scene wanted to believe it was just another Twitter hoax. Lucker, vocalist for metal band Suicide Silence, passed away early Nov.
