A fire is beginning to burn in the Buffalo's women's basketball team (14-9, 6-6 MAC), one that cannot be stopped as the team moves closer to the Mid-American Conference Tournament.Wednesday night Buffalo traveled to Athens, Ohio, in a game originally scheduled for Tuesday night, but was postponed due to weather.

A Comic Rock Duo at the Mohawk Place

"I can almost guarantee I am the only man in the world with a marmoset on my head right now," Jay Bennett joked, to a sparse but attentive and enthusiastic crowd at the Mohawk Place on Wednesday evening.On tour with the other half of his duo, Edward Burch, Bennett entertained the audience with over two hours of full-on, enjoyable, acoustic rock music - all while sporting a large, beige fur cap swiped from Mohawk head Marty Boratin.Thus far, Bennett is best known for his work in the standout indie rock band Wilco.

Machine Versus Machine: Bot Wars in the Union

Sounds of whirring blades and crashing metal filled the Student Union on Thursday as 10 student-designed robots squared off against one another in a fight to the scrapheap.As part of Engineering Week, the Student Association Engineering Council and Clubs held its annual "UB Bot Wars" - modeled after Comedy Central's "Battlebots" - in which students design and build robots that compete to dismantle each other.The Society of Automotive Engineers took top honors with a robot named "Drill Sergeant." The UB Robotics Club's robot, "George," was the runner-up.Event Coordinator James Ambrose, a senior majoring in mechanical and aerospace engineering, served as the announcer and said UB Bot Wars surpassed his expectations."This event was very successful," Ambrose said.

Keeping the Spirit Alive

While the physical body of Christine Dickerson, the 18-year-old freshman member of the women's crew team who lost her life in a December car crash, may be gone, her spirit lives on.Family members, teammates and friends gathered Tuesday night to christen a new four-person crew boat, "The Spirit of Christine Dickerson," in her honor."Every stroke will be for her," said team captain Sara Sheffer, wiping away a tear from her eye.
