Offense Goes AWOL For Bulls in Citrus Bowl

ORLAND, FLA. - When a defense allows only 12 points in a game, never mind UB's much-maligned D, much more cannot be asked of the unit. There is no question that they did their part, allowing the offense a chance to win by only having to score a few points to win the game.Unfortunately for the defense, the offense could not up the ante, only scoring ten points in the first half, as the Buffalo Bulls (0-6, 0-2 Mid-American Conference) fell to the Central Florida Golden Knights (2-3, 1-1 MAC) on Saturday night in the Citrus Bowl by a score of 19-10.Despite the defense's Herculean efforts and the offensive woes, special teams was where the backbreaker was delivered to the Bulls in the third quarter with the game still up in the air at 12-10.With 5:58 remaining in the game and plenty of time for UB to ignite some sort of offensive effort, the Bulls punted a kick out of their own end zone to the Knights' speedster Tavaris Capers.

Artists' Works Bend Rules of Art at Albright-Knox

University Settles Handicap Access Suit

After a three-year legal battle with some handicapped students, UB and the State University of New York have finally settled the lawsuit regarding the school's lack of handicap access on campus. The university has agreed to improve its facilities to better accommodate its handicapped students and faculty, but it is disturbing that the administration has decided on this only after legal action has been brought upon the school.Tammy Milillo, a graduate student, and former UB students Jason Bowman and Rudy Denmeade filed the lawsuit against UB and SUNY in May 2000, claiming the university is not as wheelchair-accessible as it should be.

Disabled Students' Lawsuit Settled

Officials envision over $1 million in access improvements at UB as a result of a settlement between UB officials and three disabled plaintiffs.According to the terms of the settlement, UB officials must finish an audit that will identify violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act on both campuses by next spring. In addition, the court will retain jurisdiction of the matter -- meaning they will hear all cases involving accessibility issues on campus -- for four years after the audit is finished.Tammy Milillo, the only plaintiff who is currently a UB student, lauded the settlement as a major step forward for UB's disabled students."I am hopeful that the settlement will be the first step in a cooperation process," said Milillo, a graduate student in chemistry.
