Three Out of Four Ain't Bad

Retaining her flawless 4-0 record against the Central Michigan Chippewas may have been on UB head coach Cheryl Dozier's mind on Wednesday night in Alumni Arena, but that thought was certainly not in the same stratosphere as her main objective: getting her maligned squad another Mid-American Conference victory.Luckily for Dozier, she was able to do just that as Buffalo pulled off a 57-52 defeat of CMU.The Bulls (4-10, 2-2 MAC) followed their rallying cry of "defense" throughout the entire game, and it showed.

Extra Innings

While this week marks the beginning of graduating seniors' official Countdown to Commencement, some fourth year students will be on their way to falling into the category that their peers have affectionately - or tauntingly - referred to as "super seniors."Perhaps adding extra years to a college career was once something to be embarrassed about.

One Man's Trash is Sculpture Students' Treasure

The mission proposed to the sculpture students was straightforward: go to the "As Is" Thrift shop on Military and Kenmore, find any cheap items you could use, construct them into a piece of art, and install for a show two days later. The undergraduate and graduate sculpture students accepted their mission and accomplished it with expertise and without problem. This being only the second week of school, the students had to think fast and create faster - the students only had one day at the thrift shop and one day to work - in order to install their projects by Thursday of this week.

"Eat Your Heart Out, Space Mountain"

On Sunday, the UB Bulls (5-9, 1-5 Mid-American Conference) will take to the hard court in the hopes of accomplishing a feat that has now eluded them for over two years: a MAC road win.Their host will be the Northern Illinois Huskies, (7-10, 2-5 MAC) who, after being chosen as the pre-season favorite to win the MAC West Division by the MAC News Media Association, are in the midst of anything but a championship season. Both teams are coming off disappointing conference losses, with UB dropping to Marshall Saturday 86-74 and NIU falling to Ball State on Tuesday 71-65, extending the Huskies' own road loss streak to 0-8 on the year. However, at home in the Convocation Center, Northern Illinois is 6-0 (with the other win and losses coming in a preseason invitational tournament). The stage is set for UB to end their current six game skid, while handing the Huskies their first loss at home.
