No Fall at Slippery Rock for Bulls Wrestling

Although it seems improbable, there are a number of reasons why the UB wrestlers are now 11-4 (1-2 Mid-American Conference) on the 2003-04 season.Their high-intensity workouts, a tightly knit team and athletes unafraid to step up to win at meets are all part of the formula that has produced Buffalo's recent success. This formula was at work again Tuesday night and it produced a staggering victory at Slippery Rock, Pa.

"Thousands Fail to Fill Out Form, Gain Checkstop"

Starting Wednesday, a checkstop appeared on the records of about 5,000 students because they failed to complete UB's Menigitis Information Form, according to Student Health Services.Until these students fill out the form - which can be found on the MyUB Web site - they will be prevented from registering for summer and fall classes.Finding out that nearly one-fifth of students have yet to complete the one-question form comes as no surprise to Frank Carnevale, the director of Student Health Services."It's human nature for a certain percentage of the population to procrastinate," he said.

Flying Like a Bird

When you think of the Buffalo guards, Turner Battle generally comes to mind first. And while Battle may in fact be the best player on the team as its leader, his backcourt comrade Jason Bird may have the best touch when stroking a jumper. For those unfamiliar with the 6-foot 4-inch junior, he's the sweet-shooting two-guard on the Buffalo Bulls basketball team that can be found on the wings with Battle.Hailing from Ypsilanti, Mich., Bird chose UB over schools like Eastern Michigan, Bowling Green, and Marquette."The main reason was the atmosphere, the coaching staff, and the players that were coming in with me," said Bird after a long practice.
