University police closed off the road between Augsburger and Flint, after three vehicles were struck in a car accident. The person driving the car that started the accident was having a “medical emergency,” according to UPD Deputy Chief of Police Josh Sticht. Passersby broke the driver’s window open to get him out of the car before UPD arrived.

UB announces new format for DIFCON series UB’s Spring 2017 DIFCON series will have a different format than year’s past. The series will take place from April 17-21 and will ask participants to own their differences and introduce a new debate-style format to address controversial topics influencing the nation.

Aviva Abramovsky has been named dean of UB's School of Law, effective in July, after an international search. Abramovsky will be the first female dean of the law school. “I do take the historic appointment with all due seriousness and recognize it as the honor it is,” Abramovsky said.
Theresa Rubi drove to North Campus from her apartment on Minnesota Avenue on Wednesday morning “slipping at every turn.” “The weather Tuesday was bearable compared to this,” Rubi, a senior biological sciences major, said. “I think school should have closed on Wednesday for the safety of students, professors and staff.”

The Spectrum’s editorial board elected Hannah Stein, a sophomore English major, as the editor in chief for the 2017-18 school year. Stein ran unopposed.
The UB Offices of Shared Governance – Faculty Senate and Professional Staff Senate – met Tuesday afternoon in Center for Tomorrow. Along with the two Senates were 10 guest speakers – including Student Association President Matt Rivera and Graduate Student Association (GSA) President Tanja Aho – who participated in a Q&A panel. There were approximately 40 people in attendance.
Students may be able to attend any SUNY and CUNY schools with free tuition in the near future. But UB professors are questioning what “free tuition” means. On Jan. 3, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders introduced a proposal to make college tuition-free at all SUNY and CUNY institutions forfamilies making less than $125,000 per year.
Campus: UB holds second annual Internship Day The UB SUNY Works Committee sponsored the second annual Internship Day on Tuesday. The event featured several workshops that focused on career-related skills, such as resume building and interviewing techniques.
When students are running late for breakfast and the clock hits 10:46 a.m., it is officially too late for them to use their breakfast meal credit. On weekdays, students can use a breakfast meal swipe from 7 a.m-10:30 a.m. If a student wants to purchase a meal between 10:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m., they must use dining dollars or campus cash
