Cab company shorts Campus Cash fare

In the wee morning hours on any given weekend in the University Heights, throngs of Ellicott, Governors and campus apartment residents line the streets in front of every bar and restaurant with one goal in mind - getting back to North Campus.At a time in the evening when many people are either too exhausted or otherwise incapacitated to make major decisions, one safety net for that necessary ride home used to be an easy choice - paying for a Liberty Cab with Campus Cash, a taxable debit account that can be pre-paid onto a UB Card.Liberty Cab, one of the larger taxi services in the city of Buffalo, used to accept Campus Cash.

Students and officials deal with a goose of a problem

To many people, geese are harmless and nothing more than a nuisance at most, but for a number of students, the growing number of geese at UB has become a problem that interrupts daily life.Lou Schmitt, director of facilities operations, said he doesn't feel the geese are a danger, but it is a problem that they walk in clusters and inhibit the flow of traffic.Plus, there is the possibility that the geese droppings could create a health threat.

"Run remembers Yalem, Katrina victims"

As the time passed 9:30 a.m., much of UB was still sleeping Sunday, still in bed on a lazy morning before football games, late breakfasts, and cherished weekend vegging out.But while much of UB slept in, over 900 people clad in 1,800 pairs of running shoes and jogging shorts hit the North Campus pavement early Sunday for the 16th annual Linda Yalem Safety Run.The run promotes safety awareness and is held in honor of Linda Yalem, a UB student who was raped and murdered while running on the Ellicott Creek bike path in 1990.
