New York gubernatorial candidate Larry Sharpe talked about his “no ground rules” approach during his latest campaign stop on Monday. Sharpe, a self-proclaimed businessman, teacher, and veteran, talked to roughly 75 students and community members in Student Union 228 on Monday night. The event, hosted by the Student Association and UB’s Young Americans for Liberty chapter, was billed as a “town hall” stop for the candidate, who is running in the upcoming New York State gubernatorial election on Nov. 6. His running mate for lieutenant governor, Andrew Hollister, was not in attendance.
Former congressman Bob Inglis travels the country trying to convince other conservative lawmakers to believe in climate change. Inglis is the executive director of republicEn, a grassroots community of over 5,800 Americans educating the country about free-enterprise solutions to climate change.

UB’s parking and transportation department has partnered with Reddy BikeShare to release 50 newly designed bicycles to be integrated into the UB Bikeshare program. Campus UB physicists win $1.45 million to study high energy-physics Three UB physics professors received $1.45 million from the National Science Foundation for research in high-energy physics, according to UB Now. The foundation awarded the grant to Salvatore Rappoccio, associate professor of physics in the College of Arts and Sciences, and UB physics professors Ia Iashvili and Avto Kharchilava.
UB’s Class of 2022 is the university’s largest and most diverse class to date. This year’s freshman class of 4,166 students is the largest in the SUNY system, according to UB spokesperson John DellaContrada.
Students and faculty are worried about UB’s current asbestos removal taking place during classes, despite university officials’ reassurance that removing the material isn’t a health concern. The university has been removing asbestos, a naturally occurring mineral substance used as insulation material, from three areas on its North Campus: Clemens Hall, Governor’s Hall and the Ellicott Complex.
