Richards qualifies for NCAA tournament

For the fifth time this year, junior long jumper Roy Richards won the title in the long jump. His latest victory, on Saturday, came at the Intercollegiate Amateur Athletics Association Championships in Boston, Mass.Richards' win was his second in as many weeks after he took the long jump crown at the Mid-American Conference Championship last weekend.

UBSAS talks trash in the Student Union

In a scene reminiscent of mailmen carrying in bag after bag of mail in "Miracle on 34th Street," protestors from UB Students Against Sweatshops traded sacks of letters for wrappers and old newspapers in an effort to prove what they consider an injustice done to sub-contracted janitorial workers hired by the university."We'd like to let everyone know how much trash is left in our lecture halls," said Rachel Wilson, a junior sociology major, via megaphone to students and workers at tables in the Student Union Tuesday at noon.

Baseball wins opener then drops three straight

The third and fourth games of a four-game series at Marshall failed to entertain as much as the previous two, which included countless rallies, ties, lead changes and late-inning heroics.Buffalo baseball won the first game on Friday, 8-7, and lost both sides of a Saturday doubleheader by scores of 10-9 and 20-3.

The women's tennis team recorded its record-breaking sixth shutout Sunday, defeating Niagara 7-0 at the Village Glen Tennis Center in Willamsville.The match started with Buffalo's senior Kristen Ortman and sophomore Natalie Dean facing the Purple Eagles' Danielle Grenier and Julianne Prokopich.
