Record-breaking day for Bulls in win at Big 4 Classic

As gusty winds carried the ball all over the place at Amherst Audubon Field during the consolation game of the Big 4 Classic, it was the Bulls baseball team that blew the record books wide open.Buffalo broke or tied several school records on the way to a 27-12 blowout win to clinch a third-place finish in the tourney.

Shorthanded Bulls post a winless weekend

When Buffalo baseball took the field this weekend, the team was a shell of its usual self, as five players were serving suspensions for a benches-clearing brawl during last Tuesday's match against Canisius.Fight and all, the game ended in a double forfeit.

Baseball shut out in home opener

Buffalo baseball waited 18 games and 34 days to play its first home game of the 2006 season, but the Bulls had to wait 24 more hours to finally take to the diamond at Amherst Audubon Field after poor weather conditions forced the team to cancel Friday's game against Central Michigan.On its home field for the first time, Buffalo lost both games in a Saturday doubleheader, 5-0 and 8-0, and was swept aside 12-0 on Sunday by the Chippewas to go scoreless for the weekend.After being so patient to play in Western New York again, the Bulls' first conference victory will still have to wait.Buffalo combined for just four hits in the doubleheader.

Baseball gets burned

The Buffalo baseball team didn't return from spring break with sun burns, hangovers and empty wallets, but the Bulls did come back with eight losses, just one win, and the desire for some much-needed rest.Buffalo dropped three games against Southern Mississippi, another three to New Orleans, and one apiece to Alcorn State and Southeastern Louisiana.

McWilliams eyes MLB

Although senior Sean McWilliams has hopes of being selected in this year's Major League Baseball draft, and many feel he has a legitimate chance of realizing that dream, he doesn't spend all his free time perfecting his pitching repertoire.When not on the diamond, McWilliams, a scratch golfer, can most likely be found on the green mastering his golf stroke, playing ping pong, or conquering a new video game."I love golf.

Baseball wins opener then drops three straight

The third and fourth games of a four-game series at Marshall failed to entertain as much as the previous two, which included countless rallies, ties, lead changes and late-inning heroics.Buffalo baseball won the first game on Friday, 8-7, and lost both sides of a Saturday doubleheader by scores of 10-9 and 20-3.

Solid pitching not enough as baseball drop two out of three

Along with their bat bags, gloves and cleats, the baseball team brought home a victory this weekend, but it was accompanied by two losses at the hands of Maryland Eastern Shore.The Bulls split a pair of blowout wins with the Hawks in a doubleheader on Saturday, and dropped the decisive game Sunday.Buffalo lost the first game on Saturday 15-2 and won the second 11-3.

Bulls split doubleheader to open season

A Bulls baseball squad full of talented but untested newcomers took the diamond for the first time this season Sunday, losing the first game of a doubleheader but picking up the nightcap at Appalachian State.After the first game was rained out on Saturday, the Bulls dropped the first game on Sunday 12-6 and won the second by a score of 4-2.In the win, Buffalo got out of the gate quickly.
