SWJ drops charges against Mendoza

Charges filed against SUNY Student Association delegate and recent SA president-hopeful Christopher Mendoza for allegedly giving alcohol to a minor were dropped by the Student-wide Judiciary on Tuesday.Mendoza, who was charged with unlawful dealing with a child one day before polls opened in SA elections, was "not surprised" by the decision."I wasn't distributing alcohol to any minors," he said.

Both council candidates brought up on charges

The student seat on the University at Buffalo Council is, by far, one of the most prestigious positions available to an aspiring UB scholar.It's unfortunate to learn that both Ilia Nossov and Creighton Randall, the lone candidates in what is usually a crowded race, blatantly violated election policy.A simple set of election rules and regulations was adopted by the Council of Student Governments to manage the yearly race.

Nossov wins UB Council seat by slim majority

In a close race that ended Wednesday, Ilia Nossov was narrowly chosen as the next student representative to the UB Council amidst accusations that he violated election rules.Nossov received 51.93 percent of the votes and his competitor Creighton Randall received 48.07 percent of the votes in the online election.Only 803 total students voted in the race open to the entire undergraduate and graduate communities through UBLearns - Nossov won by a margin of about 30 votes and the low turnout can be attributed to the lack of knowledge on the Council, according to Jen Wantz, Assistant Director of Student Activities."I think during the (Undergraduate Student Association) elections people are out in the open and they see what's happening.

Strong results for rowing team

The warm water on the west coast was just what the Buffalo rowing team was looking for. The squad participated in the San Diego Crew Classic this past weekend and finished in third-place in a field of 16 teams.The Bulls had to race in the preliminaries on Saturday to make the finals on Sunday.

Now it is up to the competitors to let the habits they have developed over the past four weeks become lifelong changes in their every day lives.Although Joyce Wang only lost one pound, she began frequenting the gym at Governors regularly and has addressed her tendency to overeat at each meal.
