UB Volleyball Falters out of the Gate

In their season opener at Syracuse, the University at Buffalo's volleyball team couldn't dig, set, and spike their way to victory, falling to the Orange in three games.

At the beginning, it didn't seem as though the Bulls were going to be able to keep the match close, losing the first game by 12 points, and the second by 10, but the they came back, and lost by only a five point deficit in the final game of the match.

Tammy Jul?(c) led UB with six kills, and was followed closely by sophomore Lauren Burd, and Junior Amy Brown who had five kills each. Brown added 22 assists and six digs in the losing effort.

Syracuse followed behind with Kristen Conway's 10 kills and Aila Dommestrup's 29 assists. The two combined to be a murderous pairing against UB.

The Bulls will next play at the Western New York tournament, which takes place this weekend. Friday's match is against Binghamton, at Niagara at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, UB has two matches; the first is against Texas-Arlington at 10 a.m., and the second is against Stony Brook at 4:30 p.m. Both matches take place at Canisius.
