Around the MAC

In an exciting weekend of play, the Mid-American Conference featured seven in-conference games. Marshall (1-3, 1-0 MAC) beat Ohio (3-2, 1-1 MAC) by a 16-13 margin, Kent State (1-4, 0-2 MAC) lost to Miami of Ohio (2-3, 1-1 MAC) in a 47-27 blowout, Northern Illinois (3-2, 2-0 MAC) barely edged out the University of Central Florida (0-4, 0-1 MAC) 30-28, Toledo (3-2, 2-0 MAC) blew out Western Michigan (1-3, 0-1 MAC) 59-33, Bowling Green (2-2, 0-1 MAC) beat Central Michigan (2-2, 1-0 MAC) 38-14, Eastern Michigan (1-4, 1-1 MAC) defeated Ball State (1-4, 1-1 MAC) 31-24 and Akron (1-4, 1-1 MAC) beat Buffalo (1-4, 1-2 MAC) 44-21.

UB loses ace

UB men's tennis player Randy Rocchio learned last Thursday that the injury to his elbow is career ending, according to UB head coach Russ Crispell. The senior from East Amherst, N.Y. compiled a 13-18 overall (3-2 MAC) record for the Bulls last season, primarily playing number one singles for UB.
