Call to action:

Another day, same dollar

Student Association President Peter Grollitsch and Treasurer John Martin continue to withhold your subscription fee of $1 per student per semester. The money was originally intended to be transferred from the Student Mandatory Activity Fee to The Spectrum.

???Martin believes it's acceptable to put stipulations on this money - he seems to forget that The Spectrum is not an SA club. Moreover, Martin seems to think his power extends over all, able to release or retract funds that are not his whenever the mood strikes.

???Martin does not think he has any obligation to respond to the student newspaper - that is, unless it's in his favor. And though his transparent need for control may be hampering his common sense, Martin doesn't know that it's "common business practice" - not to mention polite - to respond to correspondence in a timely manner.

???Martin wants to censor your student newspaper - the only check on those working at SA with your money at their disposal. ???What is Martin so afraid of The Spectrum finding out?

???What's worse is that Martin apparently thinks spending your student dollars to defend his attempt at censorship is a joke - why else would he join the Facebook group dedicated to The Spectrum's cause (see Web site for the screenshot)? Despite the original publication of this article on Wednesday, Martin remained in the group as of 11:30 p.m. on Sunday.

???Say "no" to SA censoring your student newspaper.

???Tell Martin and Grollitsch that trying to censor your student newspaper by castrating its finances is unacceptable, and that you don't support the use of your student dollars for attorneys fees - especially when past litigation heeds that SA will lose their case.

???E-mail them at pag7@buffalo.edu and jjmartin@buffalo.edu and tell them to turn over your subscription fee to the newspaper you're subscribing to. Stop by The Spectrum office, located at 132 Student Union, to sign a petition supporting the money transfer.

???Keep your newspaper independent.
