Police Investigate South Campus Rape

A female UB student was allegedly raped in the South Campus area on Oct. 29 around midnight, according to a police official.

The student was transported from the Main-Bailey parking lot to ECMC by an ambulance. The case was referred to the Buffalo Police Department and the department's Sex Offense Squad for further investigation, according to the university police safety report.

Detective Sal Valvo of the Sex Offense Squad said the sexual assault happened after the student left a party on Minnesota Avenue.

"She left with someone who was escorting her from the party to another location," Valvo said. "The person pulled her into an alley and sexually assaulted her."

Valvo said the incident occurred sometime between midnight and 1 a.m.

"It's still early in investigation," Valvo said.
