Clifford commits to men's basketball team
Last week, Bishop Fenwick star Mike Clifford verbally committed to Buffalo's men's basketball team, according to the Salem News.
Clifford, a 6-foot-7.5-inch basketball player from Danvers, Mass. has been in contact with Buffalo's coaching staff since last June, following Clifford breaking his leg. Clifford visited Buffalo's campus last week and 24 hours later, head coach Reggie Witherspoon offered him a scholarship.
"Coach said the visit went well," Clifford said in an interview with the Salem News. "I told him I had to talk to my parents [about the scholarship], but it was an easy choice. It's the best place for me for everything."
Clifford finished with 1,707 career points and more than 1,200 rebounds in stints with Bishop Fenwick and Danvers High School. This past season, Clifford averaged 26.3 points and 18.3 rebounds per game and led the Crusaders to a 20-3 record and a spot in the Division 3 North Championship game.
